---ENG: International celebration at the Circolo Canottieri Napoli on the occasion of the second open round of the Capri-Napoli, the 36 kilometer swimming marathon organized every year by Luciano Cotena's Eventualmente eventi & comunicazione company. A celebration opened by the victory of the Turkish Emre Erdogan, who completed the crossing from Gemma Rocchi's Le Ondine Beach Club (Capri) to Molosiglio (Naples) in a time of just over eight hours (8.01.40), despite sea conditions not exactly favourable: “For me it was the second experience – his first words – but it is the first time I have completed the test, having had to withdraw in the first circumstance due to physical problems. It was very hard, because after about fifteen kilometers I found myself swimming against the wind and with quite high waves. I had also trained to face a sea that was not exactly clear, but I had done it for a few kilometres: I didn't think that these conditions would accompany me here for so long".
Erdogan (who is not related to the president of his country of the same name) preceded the Italian Marco Millefiori (9.35.15), the Israeli Denis Portnoi (9.43.35) and the Belgian Andread Derudder (9.58.15). The first woman, the Brazilian Ana Carolina Morelli, did the best of the three, completing the crossing in 8.32.10: “It was my second experience in open water races of this length – she explained – after a 37 km in Brazil , that race swam these entirely inshore. I was prepared for the sea conditions, having studied the waters of the gulf with my coach. The first three hours were calm, then came another three hours of rough seas. In those circumstances I gained strength by seeing the mainland closer but above all by observing the island of Capri which appeared smaller and smaller".
In the relay races, Italy got the better of the representatives of Argentina and Mexico. The winner was the Calabrian team of Kroton Nuoto (made up of Luigi D'Alfonso, Alessandro Capozza, Luca Vrenna and Fabio Milizia), who completed the 36 km in 7.36.50, preceding the Sapri-Maratea 24 team (7.58.50) and the Argentines of the Pilar Geijo team, which included Geijo herself, protagonist of the overall Capri-Napoli several times and winner in 2011 and 2016: “For us it was the first experience and we are already convinced that we will return – said the winners – We have we adapted the tactics depending on the moment: when we were more relaxed completing long fractions, when it was appropriate to push with shorter stints".
Friday 5 July third and final open test for 2024: 44 athletes (36 men and eight women) representing nine nations are expected to compete, nine competing in Solo while the others will be divided into six relays. Among other things, the presence as coach of the Spanish Esther Nunez, winner of the Capri-Napoli in 2012, was announced.
