---ENG: A woman stronger than all male opponents. The third and final open race of the Capri-Napoli 2024 offers another feat: the protagonist is the New Zealander Kristen Cameron, capable of swimming the 36 km that separates Le Ondine Beach Club on the blue island from the waters in front of the Circolo Canottieri Napoli in 7.51 .15 and thus win the preparation challenge for the overall competition, scheduled for Saturday 7 September and promoted by Luciano Cotena's Eventualmente eventi & communicazione company.
Cameron beat Hampus Carlsson (Sweden), who swam 8.35.05, taking first place among the men. Behind them another woman, Priscilla Magalhaes (Brazil, 9.50.15), Lorenzo Raggio (Argentina, 10.20.10) and Gabriela Lemus (Mexico, 10.30.43).
Cameron is no stranger to swimming feats: born in 1973, she is a former freestyle and open water athlete, holder of the masters world record in the 30-34, 35-39 and 40-44 classes. For her, first experience at the Capri-Napoli and in general first time on distances of this kind: “I have been preparing the Capri-Napoli for a while - she admits - but last year I had to give up at the last moment due to a sudden bereavement. I'm happy with my test and the organization: it's a pleasure to swim in the Gulf of Naples. The sea conditions were not favourable, especially in the first ten kilometers and during the last two hours. I also had a small shoulder problem, which however affected the presentation only minimally."
Cameron came out of the water not very tired, unlike the first man, Carlsoon. He was in his third consecutive year at Capri-Napoli: "Unfortunately this time too I didn't find a favorable sea - his words - Nonetheless, it took me eight minutes less than in 2023. It was a tough test but overall I'm more how satisfied."
Closing the picture was the relay race, won by the Swim Il Salento representative (made up of Giorgio Frigoli, Mauro Inacio, Vincenzo Mazzuoli, Francesco Ricci, Marco Vantaggiato and Fabio Antonio Zizzi), who completed the crossing in 7.29.10, preceding the Swimmers by chance (8.01.30) and the Argentines of Team Pilar Geijo (8.07.20). The organizer, Luciano Cotena, was happy: “The three open events demonstrated not only the sporting but also the tourist value of the Capri-Naples, with many enthusiasts coming from all over the world and from various Italian cities to swim and visit the numerous beauties of the province and more generally of Campania. An important prelude to the overall race on September 7th."
