---ENG: The charge of 117. These are the athletes who from Friday 21 June will give life to the three open trials of the Capri-Napoli (the other two are scheduled for 28 June and 5 July), the most important and prestigious ultramarathon swimming competition of the world, which this year celebrates its 59th edition. An international celebration in the waters of the Gulf of Naples, given that swimmers from fourteen nations and four continents will be represented: in addition to Italy, they will compete in the 36 kilometer crossing that separates the blue island from the area of the Circolo Canottieri Napoli representing Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, France, India, Israel, New Zealand, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Turkey and Venezuela.
As always, the open trials, in addition to being a moment of sporting participation and tourist promotion (many participants stay in Naples for several days to visit the beauties of the city and those of its rich province), will also offer qualifying passes for the official competition, the Farmacosmo trophy which this year will be awarded on Saturday 7 September: whoever manages to complete the Solo test in less than 7h and 30" for men and 7h and 45" for women will in fact have the right to take part in the official competition, for which the best 25 specialists in the world are currently registered.
The open trials then feature the relay trials. The parterre of the inaugural race, scheduled for June 21st, is already captivating, starting from Gemma Rocchi's Le Ondine Beach Club and arriving at Molosiglio, thanks to the availability of the president of the Circolo Canottieri Napoli, Giancarlo Bracale: in total there will be 38 swimmers ( 33 men and five women) from seven countries (Argentina, Brazil, France, India, Romania, Spain and Italy). Six will compete in the Solo test, the others will be divided into seven relays. Among those who will swim in teams, we note the return of the Argentine Claudio Plit, four-time winner of the Capri-Napoli and holder, until two years ago, of the record for appearances (fifteen) in the official competition, a record passed in 2022 to his compatriot Damian Blaum (who has run sixteen gulf marathons, winning two).
The organizer Luciano Cotena of the Company Eventualmente - Eventi & Cominicazione is satisfied: “The open competitions – he states – are growing more and more in terms of interest and attendance. And the fact that many past champions, who have left their mark in open water swimming, return to dive or follow their athletes, effectively becoming ambassadors of Capri-Napoli in the world, is a further sign of prestige for the competition. This year there are almost 120 attendees and pre-registrations are already open for the next editions (2025-2026), for which there are already over fifty registrations".
