Capri-Napoli 2025: 4th open competition - 4th July

---ITA: Sul traguardo ha preceduto i suoi avversari di quasi tre minuti. Un’impresa, se si pensa che alle sue spalle erano in cinque a darsi regolari cambi. A firmarla il romano Gian Luca Sondali, 59 anni, vincitore dell’ultima prova open della Capri-Napoli 2025, la maratona del golfo organizzata dalla società Eventualmente Eventi & Comunicazione.
Sondali, campione master in piscina e al suo primo anno in gare superiori ai 10 chilometri, ha compito la traversata di 36 km che separano il lido Le Ondine Beach Club di Marina Grande (sede di partenza della prova) e le acque antistanti il Circolo Canottieri al Molosiglio (punto di arrivo) in 7.45.48, mentre Il Gabbiano (la prima staffetta, composta da Adriano Eliseo, Claudio Melia, Gennaro Cancello, Alessandro Natale e Ciro Cardalesi) ha completato la traversata in 7.48.28.
“È stata una bella esperienza – ammette il nuotatore laziale – con un’organizzazione perfetta. All’inizio il mare è stato tranquillo, poi la situazione è diventata un po’ più difficile a causa delle onde, ma la mia gestione nel complesso è stata ottimale. Per me è la prima esperienza alla Capri-Napoli e la prima in assoluto su queste distanze. Vengo dal mezzofondo in piscina, dove ho vinto titoli italiani di categoria e ottenuto primati. In acque libere prima di quest’anno, avevo affrontato solo prove di 10 km. In preparazione della maratona del golfo, ho partecipato ad una 18 km. Un’esperienza da ripetere”.
Sorridono anche i componenti de Il Gabbiano, che ammettono di avere fatto gara su Sondali: “Lo vedevamo avanti ed è stato per noi un costante punto di riferimento. All’inizio siamo partiti con cambi ogni 10 minuti, poi ogni 8. Quando il traguardo era più vicino, abbiamo provato a ridurre ulteriormente le frazioni nella speranza di raggiungere il primo, ma non ci siamo riusciti”.
Tra le donne, trionfo della spagnola Patricia Aguera in 9.39.26: “Faceva molto caldo, per me che vengo dalle Asturie temperature decisamente elevate. Ho sofferto queste condizioni climatiche, specie quando poi il vento ha reso il mare mosso. Nel complesso però è stata un’esperienza da ricordare”.
Con quella svoltasi ieri, venerdì 4 luglio, si sono chiuse le prove open della Capri-Napoli 2025 (quattro in tutto, la prima delle quali è arrivata a Torre del Greco): ora l’attenzione è puntata sulla gara assoluta, in programma sabato 6 settembre, e alla quale ad oggi risultano iscritti 25 tra i migliore specialisti al mondo della ultramarathon in acque libere.

At the beginning the sea was calm, then the situation became a bit more difficult because of the waves, but my management overall was excellent. For me it is the first experience at the Capri-Naples and the first ever at these distances. I come from middle distance swimming in the pool, where I won Italian titles in my category and obtained records. In open water before this year, I had only faced 10 km trials. In preparation for the Gulf Marathon, I took part in an 18 km. An experience to repeat.” The members of Il Gabbiano also smile, admitting that they raced on Sondali: “We saw him ahead and he was a constant point of reference for us. At the beginning we started with changes every 10 minutes, then every 8. When the finish line was closer, we tried to further reduce the fractions in the hope of reaching the first, but we didn’t succeed.” Among the women, triumph of the Spanish Patricia Aguera in 9.39.26: "It was very hot, for me who come from Asturias the temperatures were decidedly high. I suffered these climatic conditions, especially when the wind made the sea rough. Overall, however, it was an experience to remember". With the one held yesterday, Friday 4 July, the open trials of the Capri-Napoli 2025 ended (four in total, the first of which arrived in Torre del Greco): now the attention is focused on the absolute race, scheduled for Saturday 6 September, and in which 25 of the best specialists in the world of open water ultramarathon have registered to date.
