---ENG: For the first time in its 72-year history, the Capri-Napoli will head to Torre del Greco. The Gulf swimming marathon has in fact chosen the Vesuvian city as the first arrival point for the open trials which, as per tradition, open the approach to the overall race, scheduled for Saturday 6 September this year and for which the best 25 athletes in the specialty have already registered.
These will be joined by the swimmers who qualify with the four Open stages, during which the organizers of Luciano Cotena's Eventualmente eventi & comunicazione will offer other passes up for grabs. Thanks to the agreement with the municipal administration led by Mayor Luigi Mennella and the work of the municipal councilor delegated to Sport Valentina Ascione, the Capri-Napoli is turning towards Torre del Greco for the first time. And it does so with large numbers and a large international presence: at the start, scheduled from Marina Grande to Capri, there will be 29 athletes representing seven nations and four continents: in addition to Italian swimmers, in fact, the list of athletes (nine in total) registered for the Solo race and those of the four relays, include representatives of Argentina, Egypt, Lebanon, Romania, Turkey and Great Britain. A celebration of sport at sea that will end, starting at 3 pm (when the first registered participants could be seen at the finish line, the last arrivals by 7 pm), in the waters in front of the Miramare lido, which after the beautiful experience of the sprint race linked to the Capri-Naples 2024, has decided to once again open its doors to international swimmers. The awards ceremony will also take place here. While waiting for the arrival of those registered for the Capri-Torre del Greco (over a total distance of 28 km), a water polo field will be set up in the waters of Miramare for competitions with professional teams, in a sporting atmosphere linked to the water that will be enhanced by the presence, as a testimonial, of the former water polo player Amaurys Perez, known to the general public for her appearances on various television programs.
“Once again, sport showcases our beauty – says Mayor Luigi Mennella – As happened with the second edition of the Città di Torre del Greco trophy, athletes from all over Italy and in this case from other nations around the world will be able to get to know our territory and bring the story of a city squeezed between the sea and Vesuvius around their countries, for which we are sparing no effort in terms of tourism promotion”. “Great sport stops in Torre del Greco again – adds Councilor Valentina Ascione – This time we do it by placing our coast and our sea at the center, towards which the administration’s efforts and interventions aimed at giving new life to our waters are concentrated”. Luciano Cotena is also satisfied, who underlines how the open trials this year, thanks to the Torre del Greco stage, have grown to the number of four: “The competitions – he states – are growing more and more in terms of interest and attendance. This year we are approaching 140 presences of swimmers from all five continents. All this is the result of meticulous work that allows us to reach enthusiasts from all over the world who want to experience the thrill of swimming the most famous and fascinating aquatic marathon in the world”.
