---ITA: Festa napoletana all’ombra dei faraglioni.
---ENG: A Neapolitan celebration in the shadow of the Faraglioni. Giuseppe Ilario, 21, a Neapolitan athlete with the Fiamme Oro, is the winner of the sprint race of the Capri-Napoli Vecchio Amaro del Capo Trophy, the side event to the race on Saturday, September 6th, which will celebrate its 60th edition, held in the afternoon near the "Luigi ai Faraglioni" lido. Ilario beat out the Czech Republic's Matej Kozubek, with the other Italian, Alessio Occhipinti, finishing third. The winner was satisfied at the end of the race: "We trained," he smiles, "and studied. The actual race will be a different story. For now, the feeling is good."
The women's sprint finishes between the winner of the last two Capri-Napoli races, Mayte Puca, and Italian debutant Veronica Santoni. In a photo finish, victory was awarded to Argentina, who had already won the Gulf Marathon in 2023 and 2024.
The day on the blue island for the athletes and coaches of the Capri-Napoli Vecchio Amaro del Capo Trophy began at the conference center with a moment dedicated to institutional greetings. Representing the municipal administration of Mayor Paolo Falco was Deputy Mayor Roberto Bozzaotre. "It is a pleasure for us to welcome the athletes of such a unique edition as the sixtieth. We are delighted to have athletes from all over the world, representing eight nations and three continents. Our administration, thanks to the dedication of Councilor for Sport Alberto Santarpia, is working hard to promote, through various disciplines, our beauty and our territory."
Also present was Luca Piscopo, National Councilor for CONI and FIN: "As an athlete," he said, "I'm pleased to highlight Luciano Cotena's dedication each year to organizing a prestigious yet demanding event like the Capri-Napoli. The registered athletes will certainly give their best to honor this important event."
Concluding, Luciano Cotena said: "For us, this was the first official outing with all the swimmers, and we're delighted to have held it in a unique location like the island of Capri. This year's edition is historic: whoever wins will indelibly inscribe their name in the roll of honor of the most prestigious long-distance swimming race in the world."
After the official greeting, the athletes will take a group photo in the Piazzetta area. Tomorrow, Friday, September 5th, the traditional greeting will take place at the Gran Caffè Gambrinus and a group photo will be held in Piazza del Plebiscito.
