Cerimonia IMSHOF a Napoli - IMSHOF ceremony in Naples

--- ENG: The stars of open water swimming are shining in Naples. In fact, everything is ready for the Imshof (International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame) Class of 2022 Award Ceremony, which will sanction the official inclusion of the new rightholders in the gallery made up of characters, companies and institutions that have made swimming in open water unique. The ceremony, scheduled on 7th May at the Circolo Canottieri Napoli, is the first to take place in attendance after a two-year stop due to the pandemic.
Also for this reason the appointment, entrusted to the organizer of the historic Capri-Naples, the president of Eventualmente - Eventi & Comunicazione, Luciano Cotena, is even more important. After New York, Melbourne, London, Dublin, California and Miami, Naples enters the very small circle of large cities that hosted the event and its champions, becoming the first non-English-speaking city to open at the Imshof.
"For all of us - says Luciano Cotena - it is a great satisfaction, which seals the organizational efforts produced in recent years to organize swimming events in open water, such as the Capri-Naples and the 2006 world championships, but also linked to other disciplines . Projects, mostly sports, which have almost always had the city of Naples at the center of attention, where, however, things are very difficult to organize and sometimes there is a risk that the great value they have and the strong repercussions are not fully perceived. , in particular in terms of tourism ".
Together with the new entries, taking advantage of the ceremony that takes place in Italy, the prizes that it has not been possible to assign in attendance in the last two years will also be awarded, such as the one to Massimo Giuliani, technical commissioner of the Italian open water team for 25 years, to which the 2020 honor coach went, but above all the one to the Capri-Naples, awarded the honor organization in 2021.
The awards assigned will instead be the following: for the swimmers the Dutch Sharon van Rouwendaal (gold medal in the 10 km at the Rio 2016 Games) and Ferry Weertman (Olympic champion in Rio 2016 in the 10 km) will be awarded, as well as to Rachele Bruni (who, in addition to the various international medals at the world and European championships, was silver medal at the Rio Games) and to Caroline Block (USA) for her many impactful performances (among others, records for the race longest 103.6 km in 52 hours of continuous swimming); for the honor coach category the award goes to Alick Wickman (Solomon Islands); honor administrator (executives) to Beth Yodovin and Evan Morrison (USA); honor organizations (competitions) at the London Serpentine competition; Lifetime Achievement Award (Poseidon Award) to Shelly Taylor-Smit (Australia) winner, among other things, of the Capri-Naples, twice, in 1990 and 1991; while the Lifetime Achievement Award "Dale Petranech Award" will go to Steve Mutatones (USA): memorial award to Frenchman Georges Michel (he held the record of the Channel Crossing, set in 1926, for 24 years).
To celebrate this moment, the organizers decided to close the two days with a race. And so on Sunday 8 May an open water swimming competition is scheduled over two distances, nautical mile (1,852 meters) and 5 kilometers, in the waters in front of the Posillipo Nautical Club. The competition, called “Posillipo Open Water Swim Fest”, is open to both competitive and master athletes and will see around 150 athletes from twelve nations at the starting line.
