---ITA: Festa australiana nella seconda prova open della Capri-Napoli trofeo Farmacosmo. Sono stati in tutto dodici i rappresentanti della “terra dei canguri” ad essere arrivati a Napoli per nuotare i 36 chilometri che separano l’isola azzurra dalla terra ferma e più precisamente dal Circolo Canottieri Napoli, dove si è conclusa ieri, martedì 27 giugno, la prova partita come di consueto da Le Ondine Beach Club: quattro impegnati nella prova solo (insieme ad una statunitense e ad un italiano), due in coppia e i restanti sei in un’unica staffetta. Una festa che arriva con tre anni di ritardo: un gruppo molto più folto di australiani (quasi una cinquantina) aveva deciso di sobbarcarsi il lungo viaggio e l’affascinante traversata a nuoto già nel 2020. Ma quella sfida fu annullata a causa della pandemia: “Il lockdown comportò in tutti noi una fortissima delusione. Ma non ci siamo arresi, mantenendo i contatti con Luciano Cotena, organizzatore con la sua Eventualmente Eventi & Comunicazione della manifestazione. E dopo tre anni, anche se in numero ridotto rispetto al 2020, siamo riusciti a coronare il nostro sogno”. A parlare è Simon Jones, 43 anni, il primo ad avere tagliato il traguardo dopo avere nuotato per 8 ore 34’ 22”. Alle sue spalle la prima donna, anche lei australiana, Jo Mc Connell, capace di concludere la traversata in 8.42.39. A seguire il duo composto da Justin Gately e sharyn Adams, che hanno fatto segnare il tempo di 8.56.27. La staffetta (Maria Chiara Murgia, Lauren Reece, Rebecca Kazmierczak, Therese Kazmierczak, Sally Turner e Mattew Spencer) ha invece impiegato 10.06.48 per completare i 36 km a nuoto.
Felice per la sua prova Simon Jones, venuto a Napoli con la famiglia (moglie e due figlie): “È stata la prima volta che ho nuotato una distanza superiore ai 25 km. Non nascondo che più che lo sforzo fisico, quello che mi ha creato problemi è stato l’aspetto mentale. A metà gara non sapevo più a cosa pensare: ho chiesto alla mia barca di farmi ascoltare musica e ho provato a scrutare all’orizzonte le bellezze che si intravedevano dal mare, a cominciare dal Vesuvio. Alla fine, non posso che ritenermi soddisfatto”.​

Happy for the test of him Simon Jones, who came to Naples with his family (wife and two daughters): “It was the first time I swam a distance of more than 25 km. I won't deny that more than the physical effort, what caused me problems was the mental aspect. Halfway through the race, I no longer knew what to think: I asked my boat to play music and I tried to scan the horizon at the beauties that could be glimpsed from the sea, starting with Vesuvius.
