---ENG: In seventeen to write history. There are many swimmers who will compete tomorrow, Sunday 4 September, in the 57th edition of the Capri-Naples Farmacosmo Trophy, the race valid as a stage of the new UltraMarathon Swim Series, a world circuit that aims to bring new attention to international water marathons and that in 2022 also saw the competition take place in the USA, Canada, Mexico and Argentina.
Among the men, the Egyptian Marwan El Amarawy gave up at the last moment, while among the women the veteran Pilar Geijo, already winner in the waters of the Gulf of Naples, had to raise the white flag. Previously, the blue Barbara Pozzobon had already formalized the absence of her. It starts from Le Ondine Beach Club (10.30 am), the arrival of the race organized by Luciano Cotena's Eventualmente Eventi & Comunicazione company is scheduled between 4.30 pm and 5 pm (sea conditions permitting) in the waters in front of the CanottieriClub.
However, there are many reasons of interest, such as the first participation of the Neapolitan Mario Sanzullo, recent winner of the Italian title on the 25 km, silver on the 5 km and bronze in the Team Event at the 2017 World Championships. last year in Tokyo, aims to bring the absolute title back to Campania 52 years after the last success of the unforgettable Giulio Travaglio. For Sanzullo it will be an opportunity to put behind him the bitterness of the recent European championships in Ostia, where the blue was in the lead in the 25 km first stop and then canceled by the jury. Contending to the swimmer of the Police Team for the final success will be among others the reigning champion Alessio Occhipinti (also of the Police), Francesco Ghettini (winner 2018), the Macedonian Evgenij Pop Acev (first in 2016) and the Argentine Damian Blaum, winner in 2010 and 2015, who with this participation knocks out Claudio Plit in the number of appearances at the official race: he will be at the start for the 16th time. To keep an eye on the veteran Edoardo Stochino who repeated, at the end of July, the victory in the difficult cold waters of Lac S. Jean in Canada and who in his twelfth participation is still looking for success at the Capri-Naples, and the other Italian Simone Ruffini, world champion on the 25 km in Kazan in 2015. Among the protagonists announced also the Dutch Marcel Schouten, winner in 2020 with the men's record of the competition, but two years ago came behind the two super women Arianna Bridi and Ana Marcela Cunha.
In the women's field, instead, the French Caroline Jouisse is the favorite, first last year. Argentinian Romina Imwinkelried contends for the encore. The salient phases of the tender will be broadcast live on television by the Telecapri broadcaster and the streaming on the officia facebook page: @telecapri.
Today, Saturday 3 September, the usual and appreciated greeting of the swimmers at Gambrinus, where the athletes were welcomed by the patrons Massimiliano Rosati and Michele Sergio. At the end of the aperitif, the protagonists of tomorrow's race allowed themselves a group photo in Piazza del Plebiscito
